Construction has started on a new Kum & Go gas station/convenience store on a 68,000-square-foot site at the northeast corner of Chestnut and Fillmore streets where Chestnut was realigned during last year's Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (RTA) project. Photo looks northwest from Fillmore. According to Don Garcia of the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Kum & Go built the wall. It's on the boundary line of the property where a gas station formerly operated at the former Chestnut and Fillmore intersection next to the interstate. CDOT bought that property last year to use, at least in part, for a realigned southbound off-ramp as part of the upcoming project to replace the Fillmore/I-25 interchange. See Kum & Go article. See Fillmore article. (Photo posted 3/8/14.)
