Navajo alabaster artist Cheryl Joe will meet the public at the Velez Galleries, 2508 W. Colorado Ave., during the First Friday Art Walk in Old Colorado City Friday,
Sept. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. Making her home in Shiprock N.M., Joe carves animal and human figures from the rock. Also on display will be new Zuni and Hopi jewelry
and original landscape originals by Andrew Velez.

Here are other late-announced Art Walk activities (in addition to those noted in the Aug. 27 Westside Pioneer):
The Squash Blossom gallery, 2531 W. Colorado Ave., will feature a demonstration by artist Tom Owen, who works in watercolor, oils and acrylics. Also featured
will be bronzes by Daniel Bland.
Guitarist Jose Uveges will perform on the patio at the Old Town Guest House, 115 S. 26th St., from 7 to 9 p.m. In a change from past Art Walks, there will be no
admission fee.
Arati Artists Gallery, 2425 W. Colorado Ave., will display works by 19 member artists, showcasing watercolors by Jan Oyler and Frank Davey and ceramics by
Dan Messmer.
