Amy Amack wore the crown for the 2007 rodeo. Both Humiston and Biernat are members of the Pikes Peak Rangerettes, a drill team on horseback that performs at various events through the year. The two were selected by a volunteer rodeo committee based on their horse-handling skills and an interview/speech process. The duo, individually or together, will make at least 75 appearances to support the rodeo, starting in mid-May next year, according to committee spokesperson Corliss Palmer. Humiston said she is especially interested in spreading the word about the rodeo's contributions to military charities. “It gives to us and we give to them,” she said. Westside Pioneer article |
