Ride for Brand has record crowd
The Ride for the Brand Rodeo continues to grow in popularity.
![]() Despite being scheduled less than a week before the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, the fifth annual working cowboys event drew a best-ever 4,600 people to the Norris-Penrose Event Center's Penrose Stadium, according to an estimate by Kathleen Collins of Ride for the Brand Rodeo Productions. “We were thrilled with the wonderful participation,” she said. Competing in six events were about 100 working cowboys from 25 large ranches nationwide. The preliminary events also went well, including the high noon “cattle drive” through downtown Colorado Springs the day before the rodeo and the horse sale at the stadium earlier on rodeo day, Collins said. "All we try to do is put on a great ranch rodeo once a year, and I think we're doing that," Collins said. "We're by far the biggest city on their tour." Westside Pioneer article |
