9th annual Dump & Donate in Coronado lot
The ninth annual Dump & Donate Day will again offer people a chance to drop off recyclables and trash (but no actual garbage) and to donate to charity.
The volunteer event will be Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Coronado High School parking lot. Harris Group Realty is the sponsor, with help again from the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN). According to a Harris press release, acceptable items for recycling are electronics, mattresses and box springs, paint, tires, batteries, garden equipment, scrap metal, motor oil, yard chemicals, small electronics, computer components, gas-powered mowers and plug-in appliances. Fees will be charged for electronics ($10 for computer monitors and televisions with screens up to 40 inches in size) and mattresses/box springs ($5 each). A dumpster will be provided for trash that can't be reused. A chipper will be available for branches up to 9 inches in diameter. Catholic Charities will also have a truck in the parking lot, accepting donations of used items in good condition.
