Meet a Westsider:
Edward W. Schoch

Profession/Occupation... Former owner of Schoch’s. I was in the hardware business for 50 years and am now retired.

What I like most about the Westside is... until recently, it was an established neighborhood.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to have it better established, where you can get everything you need, without having to go to a mall. It’s become a tourist attraction.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Grand Hotel,” a classic movie from the 30’s.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... whatever it was, I didn’t listen to it.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... I’ve met General McArthur. He was a good tactician.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... Canada, to visit Lake Louise and the National Parks in Calgary and Regina in the province of Saskatchewan.

My favorite childhood memory is... my ranch experience working with cattle and horses and playing the French horn.

My favorite summer pastime is... traveling to the great outdoors.

Something good I’ve read is.. mostly periodicals like the U.S. News and World Report, Time Magazine, Harpers, American Heritage and the Smithsonian. I try to be well-rounded.

My pet peeve is... government and the way it’s run – local, state and national.

If I won the lottery, I’d... do good works for the family.
