May 22 starts Intemann work season
The Intemann Trail Committee (ITC) will host its first scheduled '04 workday Saturday, May 22. ![]() Tentative workday plans call for improvements to the Intemann Trail between the Manitou Springs Tot Lot and Crystal Valley Cemetery, including lopping, signage, trail widening, water bar installation and cactus/yucca removal. The ITC, entering its 18th year, has overseen the construction of the 5-mile Intemann Trail, the 1-mile Red Mountain Trail and two short loop links in Section 16. Other planned workday dates this year are June 13, July 24, Aug. 29, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9. In a special workday May 8, ITC volunteers (including Boy Scouts) joined El Paso County Parks employees to revegetate a section of unauthorized trail that had been illegally built off the Intemann Trail. The county is still trying to apprehend the builder, whose first name is believed to be “Carlos” with a last name beginning with “J.” For more information about the May 22 workday, call 473-4143.
