What do you do?
Mandy Morfitt
Where do you work and what is your title? I am a personal banker for Wells Fargo Bank, which is located in the Westside Safeway. What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for? I’m a loan officer and help with car loans, home equity lines of credit and personal loans. I also open new accounts for customers. How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside? I’ve been in the banking industry for a little over two years. I have worked on the Westside for about nine months. What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)? I love getting to meet all different kinds of people and building lasting business relationships. If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be? I would love it if we could add another office in our small bank in order to accomodate more customers. What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for? I went to college to be a history teacher. But it was December when I graduated two years ago, and I didn’t want to start a new teacher position in the middle of a school year. So, I found a job as a bank teller in Montrose with Wells Fargo Bank and enjoyed it so much that I stayed with it. What makes working on the Westside special? The people. I love the small community feel of the Westside. It reminds me of Delta, Colorado, where I’m from. I first moved here to work at the downtown location but applied for a transfer to this bank because it was on the Westside! “What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776. |
