G&C Packing closes

       G&C Packing, a slaughterhouse and meat packing plant that had operated at 240 S. 21st St. for more than 100 years, closed its doors Jan. 30.
       Owner Frank Grindinger, whose father had bought the facility in 1944, said the closure was necessary after a new slaughterhouse was built in Brush last year, resulting in the loss of two main suppliers.
        G&C had employed 37 people.
       The 2 ½-acre property and its buildings are for sale, Grindinger said.
