Relocations for Barracuda Bazaar, other businesses
Barracuda Bazaar, located at the northwest corner of 25th Street and Colorado Avenue for the past dozen years, has relocated to 2603 W. Colorado Ave. inside the
historic Argyle Building.
The move was the most prominent of several on the Westside that have taken place or are in progress this month. Barracuda owner Rebecca Berg said she plans a grand opening Friday, Jan. 29. “We have the same amount of space for less rent,” she said. “And we love the businesses we are joining in the Argyle building.” She was referring to Elly Blue, which has been in the building four years, and Envi, which will soon be relocating from 25th Street (see bulleted item below). Barracuda Bazaar specializes in clothing, jewelry, accessories and novelty items. Berg started it as an import business in 1995. The full name even now is Barracuda Bazaar World Imports. The business is open daily. The phone is 442-2202. Here are several other Westside businesses that have recently moved or are in the process of doing so. To make an appointment, call 227-1241. The owners are Gary and Tonja Gross. They hope to be open at the new storefront by Feb. 1 or sooner. They've had their 1950s-era nostalgia shop eight years total in Old Colorado City. The phone is 632-4447. “We look forward to being neighbors again with Barracuda Bazaar,” Marci said. “We do a lot of promotional things together.” Other factors in the move included being on the avenue (where there's more traffic than on 25th) and in the area of three other boutiques in all (Elly Blue and Out of the Box are also nearby), she said. Envi sells art, jewelry, clothing, home accessories and furniture. The business is open daily. The phone is 352-7818. The retail/resell store offers a “wide assortment of things,” he said, “from our 10-cent clothing to cable splitters to books to oak bedroom sets to blenders.” According to Michalski, Rock Reliable had been on 30th Street for six years, and the new space is five times bigger. The business is open afternoons Monday thru Friday. The phone is 494-3945. Westside Pioneer article |
