Local BMX group hosts ‘Race for Life’ event at N-P
The 10th annual American Bicycle Association “Race for Life” will be Sunday Jan., 28 at 9 a.m. The race, hosted by the non-profit Pike Peak Indoor BMX at the
Norris-Penrose Events Center, will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Anyone with a bicycle (any size: BMX, MTB, etc.) and helmet may participate (bicycle association membership is not required). The cost is $20, half of which
directly benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Spectators pay no admission fee.
Other racing opportunities will be provided on the dirt track in the center’s Indoor Arena Friday, Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday Jan. 27 at noon.
There will also be events Feb. 3 and 9-11, and March 9-11.
For each date-separated event, Pikes Peak BMX volunteers have stored dirt at Norris-Penrose hauled in to the arena, where they shape it into a track.
