Our OWN column:
Elections, bike loop, ‘Neighbor Up’ at town hall

       By Jim Thompson
President, Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN)

OWN thanks the Westside community for joining us at our January meeting at the Westside Community Center to discuss the growing concern about “warming fires” along the Fountain Creek.
The turnout by citizens and city officials was a wakeup call for this issue.
We have reached out to elected officials and city personnel to see when we can host another community event to continue this dialog.
       Annual town hall
OWN's annual town hall will be Thursday, March 8 at the N3 Taphouse, 817 W. Colorado Ave.
The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m., and we encourage you to join us.
       The meeting will include:
  • Elections for three seats on the OWN board.
  • Allen Beauchamp with Bike Colorado Springs providing a presentation about the downtown “Legacy Loop” and what that might look like on the Westside.
  • Sara Vaas with CONO (and the OWN board) discussing Neighbor Up Week May 4-13 and what that means to our community.
  • Questions from the audience.
The event will be a great chance to meet other Westside citizens.
