Building the new bridge

Work is continuing on the new Adams Crossing Bridge in the $30.9 million Westside Avenue Action Plan project. According to Zane Stultz of project contractor Wildcat Construction, crews will place girders in late March, pour the deck at the end of April and open the span in mid-May (barring complications). Other continuing Westside work in the major upgrade project for Colorado/Manitou Avenue includes the new pedestrian plaza at Ridge Road and utility upgrades/ relocations west along Colorado Avenue to 31st Street. Drivers need to watch for flaggers. In the photo above, Jimy Montoya (with the transit) and Rich Schafer survey a pier cap location for the bridge; below, workers build a footer for an abutment (foreground), drill holes for support caissons and pump concrete into them.
