Monthly First Friday shuttle boosts OCC ArtWalk

A shuttle bus is now available for Old Colorado City's First Friday ArtWalk, courtesy of the nonprofit Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPeR).

In the 2500 block of Old Colorado City, passengers disembark from the free shuttle bus that's now offered during the First Friday ArtWalk. The ride also includes stops downtown and at the Fine Arts Center.

Started in July, it is continuing on first Fridays through October. The free bus takes a one-hour loop through the older parts of Colorado Springs, making seven stops in all. Other locales are hotels, places in the downtown area and the Fine Arts Center.
The OCC First Friday ArtWalk is in its 12th year. The time frame is 5 to 8 p.m. There is no charge.
People can visit as many locations as they like in a free, self-guided way. Most offer refreshments, live entertainment and/or art demonstrations.
Providing additional OCC ArtWalk support, COPPeR lists on its website (and provides links to) the participating shops/galleries as well as to their artists/offerings. The website is peakradar.com/shuttle-schedule.
An ArtWalk shuttle was previously made available (through a different funding source) in part of 2007, although that service only ran between the downtown and Old Colorado City.
This year there are more than 15 participating businesses in the Old Colorado CityArtWalk. All are within the historic shopping district, along Colorado Avenue from 24th to 27th Street.
Most put out ArtWalk flags during the event.
