Car Show with new name in Old Colorado City Aug. 20

The first annual Old Colorado City Customs & Classics Car Show is scheduled Sunday, Aug. 20.
In all but name, the free outdoor vehicle display replaces the Good Times Car Show, which ended its 25-year run after the August 2016 event.
Like Good Times, the Classics Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and park up to 425 cars of varying ages, models, customized designs and states of restoration along Colorado Avenue and its side streets between 23rd and 27th streets.
It is being organized by Ace Conley of Ace Entertainment, along with two of the four car clubs that planned Good Times - the Rocky Mountain Mus-tangers and Southern Colorado Mopar Club - plus the Southern Colorado Jaguar Club, the Southern Colorado Chevelle Club and the Hotrod Association.
As reported in the May-June Westside Pioneer, the car clubs ended the Good Times show because of increasing costs for city-required police protection in closing the street for the event. Conley said he was seeking large donors to help overcome those costs.
