Meet a Westsider:
Bo Hamilton

Profession/Occupation... Owner of the Mill Hill Saloon and a carpenter by trade.

What I like most about the Westside is... our neighbors mostly and the small-town, down-home feeling we have.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... the corporate take-over of our neighborhood like Petco, Wal-mart, Autozone... I miss the old Schoch’s Hardware, Crissey Fowler, Rogers Bar and all the family-owned businesses.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “The Passion of the Christ.” It seems like religion is illegal anymore in government, schools, etc. God bless Mel Gibson for standing up and making something to make us stop and think! That’s reality TV at its best...

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... just put it on your credit card; that’s what they’re there for...or give me your keys, let me drive!!! Ouch!

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... John Wayne. I liked his politics and I wish he’d lived long enough to be president.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... hopefully, Louisiana. Our friends, the Blooms, just got back from that part of the country and from what he’s told me about the music and the people...I’ve gotta go soon.

My favorite childhood memory is... going on vacation with our grandma, grandpa, mom and siblings to meet other family members.

My favorite winter pastime is... thinking about summer. Even though our winters aren’t that bad, my knees and bones seem to think so.

Something good I’ve read is.. “The Rise and Fall of Stonewall Jackson,” a great biography.

My pet peeve is... speedtraps. It seems like we’ve got more speedtraps in this town than bushes for them to hide behind..

If I won the lottery, I’d... split it with my wife, Carmen, and everyone in our family (except Uncle Sam, he’s already got his share!!) and hopefully help reduce the $ stress we all seem to have!!!

Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
