Open forum on creek restoration plans Jan. 7

An open forum has been scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 7 for the planned $3.6 million restoration of Fountain Creek in front of the Gold Hill Mesa development.
The public is invited to the meeting, which will be on the first floor of the Exchange Building (Gold Hill Mesa's Community Center), 142 S. Raven Mine Drive, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
According to Stephanie Edwards of Gold Hill Mesa, project plans will be presented, and there will be comments from Gold Hill developer Bob Willard and representatives of the other involved entities. People can also ask questions, Edwards said.
The joint project involves Gold Hill Mesa, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the city's Stormwater Enterprise.
Improvements are to include sediment stabilization, improved watershed, additional control of contaminants from the Gold Hill property, reduced erosion and flooding, new wetlands and an east-west trail along the creek just south of Highway 24 roughly between 20th and 14th streets.
