2nd year for international affairs discussion group at OCC Library; meeting Jan. 13

A discussion program on America's role in world affairs will hold a get-acquainted meeting Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the downstairs meeting room at the Old Colorado City Library, 2418 W. Pikes Peak Ave.
Called the Great Decisions discussion group, the format was developed by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), a 97-year-old national organization that defines itself as “balanced [and] nonpartisan.” According to the FPA website, its mission is to “serve as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues.”
Participation requires reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book (which costs $25).
This is the FPA group's second year at the Old Colorado City Library.
After the initial get-together, the group will meet eight times, each session addressing one of the FPA-determined topics for the year. Those issues for 2016 include the rise of ISIS, the future of Kurdistan, climate change and Cuba, according to the library website.
More information about the topics and support materials are available at GreatDecisions.org.
