Manitou font subject of talk at History Center
A talk titled “Manitou Soda Spring: A Font of Prosperity” will be at the Old Colorado City History Center Friday, Jan. 11.
The speaker will be Deborah Harrison, a local historian and author. The presentation will start at 11 a.m.
Owned and operated by the volunteer Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), the center is at 1 S. 24th St. “The spring has been at the center of the health culture in the Pikes Peak region since the days of the Ute Indians. Today, it is in the lobby of the restored Manitou Spa Building,” reads an OCCHS press release, which adds that both spring and building have had a “sometimes controversial past.”
