Palmer Land Trust receives challenge grant

The Palmer Land Trust has been awarded a Challenge Grant by the Conservation Fund of the Pikes Peak Community Foundation. The grant award of $30,000 must be matched with an additional $70,000 by December 2007 to leverage the full amount.
Challenge Grant funds will be used by the Westside-based, non-profit land conservation agency to protect open lands in the Pikes Peak region and southeastern Colorado, according to Kevin Tanski, Palmer Trust director.
The non-profit Palmer Land Trust was established in 1977, originally as the William J. Palmer Parks Foundation, in recognition of Colorado Springs founder, General Palmer. The land trust has conservation easements on more than 80 properties in 10 counties, including 3 on the Westside.
