Cucuru celebrates 5th year, front patio approval

The Cucuru Gallery Café will celebrate its five-year anniversary Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17-18.

Guillermo Alvarado, owner of Cucuru Gallery Cafe, stands in the front of the doorway of his business, basking in a sunny afternoon as well as the recent city approval of front patio seating for the cafe. Also enjoying the patio and sunshine are Katie Skattebo (left) and Lupita Flores.

Activities will continue both days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., owner Guillermo Alvarado said.
The timing coincides with the recent decision by City Land Use Review to grant a variance to allowing outdoor seating on the front patio of Cucuru, a restaurant, liquor establishment and art gallery at 2332 W. Colorado Ave.
Alvarado said he had requested the approval to allow more flexibility for his business, which has long used the rear patio in warmer weather.
The front patio, can seat about 30 people, Alvarado said.
