9 shots fired into store window

An unknown robber gained entry to Colorado Tees, 2524 W. Colorado Ave., as the result of an unusual and violent method in the early-morning hours of Dec. 4.
According to Police Lt. Pat Rigdon, nine shots were fired into the store's plate-glass window, causing it to collapse. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, but none of the store merchandise, he said.
The city's police blotter states that “several 'shots fired' calls from that part of Old Colorado City came in between 3 and 4 a.m. However, the location was not verified until 4:18 a.m., when a “neighbor walking in the area” saw the damage and called it in.
The blotter adds that police were dispatched to the scene a little less than three hours later.
The weapon used has been identified as a 9mm semiautomatic pistol.
Rigdon said that in 16 years with the Colorado Springs Police Department, this is the first he's heard of a window being shot open to gain entry.
The Colorado Tees owner was contacted regarding the police response gap, but the individual has been out of town and declined to comment until more information was provided by police.
