Westside family-owned restaurant to be featured on Food Network show Dec. 18

Footage including Mountain Shadows co-owner Kasie Swain cooking with Guy Fieri is slated as part of the weekly “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” show on the Food Network Friday, Dec. 18.
The show is scheduled at 8 p.m., according to the restaurant.
“Diners” is hosted by Fieri, a chef who “takes a cross-country road trip to visit some of America's classic 'greasy spoon' restaurants - diners, drive-ins and dives - that have been doing it right for decades,” states the program's Food Network website.
Coming to Colorado Springs last fall, Fieri visited the kitchens at several area restaurants, including Mountain Shadows, Front Range Barbeque and Paravicini's - all family-owned and located on the Westside. The Paravicini's segment aired Dec. 11. Brian Fortinberry of Front Range BBQ said he has not heard yet when his will be on.
Swain said she “had a great time” during Fieri's visit. Located in a converted house, Mountain Shadows first opened in 1991 at 2223 W. Colorado Ave. Swain and Ben Zook bought the restaurant from its originators, Ray and Andrea Hill, five years ago.
“He [Fieri] and I cooked together,” Swain said. “We made cinnamon rolls and roast beef with onion rings. We did our thing, and hopefully it looks good [on television].”
