Soldier found dead on 16th Street
Colorado Springs Police are looking for leads in the shooting death of U.S. Army Spc. Kevin Shields, whose body was found on a sidewalk in the 200 block of
South 16th street around 5 a.m. Dec. 1.
Stationed at Fort Carson, Shields had been in the service since April 2003 and served in Iraq, a Fort Carson spokesperson said.
Dec. 1 would have been his 24th birthday.
According to police, he was shot multiple times (exact number undisclosed).
An arrest was made in the case Dec. 5. Police apprehended Louis Edward Bressler, 24. on the charge of first degree murder, according to a release from Lt. Skip Arms of Colorado Springs police. No other information was available at press time, but police say the investigation is continuing.
