Meet a Westsider:
Dave Dombach

Profession/Occupation... Professional trail builder. I love seeing the finished trail and the rock steps and or walls that we build, and having people enjoying them. It's satisfying work, although sometimes hard work, which gives me a sense of accomplishment.

What I like most about the Westside is... I like the small-town feel and friendliness on the Westside. I grew up in a small tourist town, Lititz, Pennsylvania, so I appreciate the ambience of the small "mom & pop" shops and the sense of community the Westside brings. It also is close to some of the best hiking trails in the area, and some of the best day trips, such as Old Stage Road and Rampart Range Road. The Westside is the best side!

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be...less traffic! With all the new home construction, the traffic is getting too heavy, especially on south 21st Street.

A good movie I've seen recently is... “American Sniper.” A very good, emotional story of our men and women defending our freedom.

I’d like to discover... more parts of Colorado. The Four Corners area is on my to-do list next year.

If I could meet someone famous, I'd like to meet... Nikola Tesla. He was a scientific genius. He was never given the notoriety he deserved for his discoveries.

The next time I travel, I'm going to... somewhere tropical with my significant other for a week or two.

My favorite childhood memory is... going to the coast of Maine every August for a week at the beach at my uncle’s cottage. It was only 3 blocks from the beach!

My favorite fall pastime is... hiking and driving in the mountains, taking photographs of the awesome Colorado fall scenery.

Something good I've read is...trail construction books, of course!

My pet peeve is... It’s amazing how many drivers in Colorado Springs do not use their turn signals!

If I didn't have to work for a year, I… we’d travel around the U.S. and Canada, visiting family and friends and exploring the beautiful sights.
