Red-vested Ambassadors welcoming, helping Christmas shoppers in Old Colorado City

Merchants working with the City Police and Fire departments, are again offering the Ambassadors program this Christmas season in Old Colorado City and the downtown.
Through Dec. 21, city-trained volunteers will be recognizable in red fleece vests with “Ambassador” on the back. Their task is to “welcome shoppers, answer questions and provide helpful information about our city,” a Police Department press release states.
The volunteers are trained through the city's CAPS (Community Advancing Public Safety) program.
In Old Colorado City, the Ambassadors will be operating in conjunction with the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group. According to OCCA Executive Director Dave Van Ness, the gathering point for the volunteers will be the OCCA's recently opened Welcome Center at 2324 W. Colorado Ave.
