Docent assistance being offered at Red Rock Canyon

Members of the Friends of Red Rock Canyon have begun volunteering docent assistance at the Red Rock Canyon Open Space.
The idea is to be on hand to explain what areas/trails can be used and help people with other information about the recently opened park, according to Linda Hodges, a member of the Friends board of directors. She added that the effort is being implemented in conjunction with Chris Lieber, City Parks trails coordinator.
Park Ranger Scott Abbott is also available Monday through Friday to meet with the public and answer questions.
Red Rock Canyon is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk at Highway 24 and High Street/Ridge Road. Available activities are hiking and rock climbing (climbers need to register first at the Garden of the Gods).
