Opposes two-laning the avenue
I'd like to comment on reducing Colorado Avenue to two lanes [from a “What if?” article regarding Old Colorado City in the Oct. 26 Westside Pioneer].
I just moved back to Colorado Springs a year ago last September. I lived in Mountain View, Calif., for 39 years. About 15 years ago, they reduced the number of lanes from four to two lanes. It has been a mess. Most people will go out of their way to bypass downtown. You only travel it when you absolutely have to. The merchants have been complaining for years and many have moved elsewhere.
I find the current configuration pleasant whether I'm driving or walking. The only thing I would recommend is a few more marked walkways without signals. Thanks.
