Silver Key ‘in desperate need of volunteers’ during holidays

Silver Key Senior Services “is in desperate need of volunteers” for the holiday season, a press release from the non-profit agency states.
Assistance is needed to call people to confirm delivery schedules as well as to provide companionship visits and deliver food and/or gifts.
Also requested are volunteers to support the Giving Tree (a Christmas gift-giving program) and holiday dinner box deliveries.
Gift delivery will begin Dec. 6 and continue through Dec. 21.
According to the release, “Silver Key serves 8,000 to 10,000 older adults each year with nutrition services (including Meals-On-Wheels), transportation, guardianship and independent living support programs.” The agency is supported by private donors and public agencies.
Programs are set up in anticipation of help from up to 1,200 volunteers, but currently there are only about a third that many, according to a recent interview with Silver Key CEO David Shaffer.
