New business for baby needs

       After five years on the Westside (seven overall), Baby Cotton Bottoms has opened a storefront at 1301 W. Colorado Ave.
       “The new store features natural products for the modern family,” a press release states. These include cloth diapers, skin-care products, baby carriers and slings, reuseable food containers, nursing bras, breastfeeding supplies and baby shower gifts.
       The owner is Dani Tobey, with managers Katie Zook and Anna Adkins. According to Zook, the owner and employees are all Westsiders, and “we've found the perfect confluence of customers here. The neighborhood is eclectic and so friendly! We wouldn't dream of leaving the area.”
       The business is open Tuesday through Saturday.
       A grand opening is scheduled Nov. 26.

       Store for cats and dogs
       The Republic of Paws, 2411 W. Colorado Ave., is a new retail store catering to cats and dogs.
       Items include carriers, clothing, health/grooming items and natural food products and toys.
       Owners Jason and Molly Smith owned a boutique on the east side before opening Republic of Paws. “My father owns a wholesale pet business and so I grew up in the pet business,” Molly said.
       They chose the Westside because “this is a pet-friendly area, and you can see a lot of people walking their dogs along Colorado Ave., including many shop owners,” she added.
