Christmas Stroll kicks off Old Colorado City holiday season Nov. 28In what's become an annual affair, the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group will again set aside the first Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28 this year) to provide holiday-geared entertainment, in what it calls the Christmas Stroll.
Scheduled street acts include the Original Dickens Carolers, Pikes Peak Youth Ringers, Victorian Society, carolers from the Old Colorado City Library and Elvis and Marilyn impersonators, according to event organizer Pam Gressett.
Most activities will be centered along West Colorado Avenue - mainly between 24th and 27th streets. Also, some retail shops plan to have performers inside their doors.
Nov. 28 will also be the first day of the OCCA's Santa Claus, meeting children in the Bancroft Park cabin in the 2400 block of the avenue. Including that date, Santa is scheduled to be in the cabin on weekends through Sunday, Dec. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Benevolent Bearded One will also be on hand Christmas Eve (Thursday, Dec. 24) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Gressett said. The cost of a visit is $10 a person, which includes a photo.
