Planning starts for 2010’s After Prom
By Susan Rhodes

The Coronado High School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) sponsored the school's first ever After Prom Party last April. The After Prom Party was open to all members of the CHS junior and senior classes, no matter if they attended prom or not, and offered a safe, chaperoned, festive environment for the party-goers. The event ran from 10 p.m. April 24 to 4 a.m. April 25 at ArtSports, 780 Vondelpark Drive.

The party featured live music by the band Uncharted - the 2008 Battle of the Bands winner. Additionally, party-goers were able to bounce the night away on the numerous trampolines and foam pits, play roulette, Texas Hold em'and “21” in the gambling loft. The event also provided free food and drinks all evening as well as door-prize drawings every 15 minutes. The refreshments and door prizes were donated by many generous local community sponsors and CHS parents. The inaugural CHS After Prom Party was deemed a success by all - everyone enjoyed a safe and fun evening.
Planning for the 2010 CHS PTA After Prom Party is currently underway with monthly meetings. If interested in helping out, please contact either myself at 331-4225 or the CHS PTA president, Nora Brown, through the Coronado High School office at 328-3600.
The committee is holding its first fundraising event at the Barnes & Noble bookstore, 1565 Briargate Blvd., Nov. 20. If you purchase a book at the store that day and mention “CHS After Prom” at the register, Barnes & Noble will donate 10 percent of your purchase to the CHS PTA.
