Meet a Westsider:
Profession/Occupation... retired teacher (although I now substitute in District 49). Lay evangelist with a healing prayer ministry in
the United Methodist Church. I help run a free clinic for the poor at the Mission Medical
Clinic, and I have three published biographies.
What I like most about the Westside is... it seems like a village. I’ve been in Colorado Springs 40 years and at our current address for 5 years.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I wish we could have started sooner and preserved more of the Front Range for open space.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Open Range,” with Kevin Costner & Robert Duvall.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... from a lawyer 35 years ago. When I went to him to file for legal separation, he refused to do it and said come back to see me when you’re ready for a divorce. His advice cost me my house and child support.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Albert Schweitzer, who is no longer living.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Costa Rica between Christmas and New Year’s.
My favorite childhood memory is... trick-or-treating in my hometown of 100 people. We all knew everybody. It was really fun!
My favorite fall pastime is... hiking through the fall colors with my husband.
Something good I’ve read is.. “Poisonwood Bible,” by Barbara Kingsolver. It’s an allegory about how twisted religion destroys families.
My pet peeve is... litter of cigarette filters that are non-biodegradable.
If I won the lottery, I’d... buy a building for the Mission Medical Clinic.
Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
