Police announce holiday-season foot patrols in Old Colorado City, downtown

The following e-mail was sent in early November to business and citizen groups representing or supporting Old Colorado City and/or the downtown:

I am pleased to announce that from Nov, 2 through Dec. 31, a Special Event Detail has been initiated to add additional police presence to the downtown Tejon Street and West Colorado Avenue business districts.
Officers will work Monday through Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be out of their cruisers on active foot patrol in their designated area. Officers will be highly visible to retail shop owners and patrons. If criminal activity is observed, officers will take enforcement action.
For downtown, officers will conduct foot patrols primarily on Tejon Street between Platte and Colorado avenues and on Bijou, Kiowa and Pikes Peak Avenue between Cascade and North Nevada avenues.
For West Colorado, officers will conduct foot patrols primarily on West Colorado Avenue between 23rd and 28th Streets.
Please let your membership know that they will see several officers whom they most likely have not met before during this time frame and we too are grateful for the assistance these officers will provide.

       Lieutenant Jeff Jensen
       Colorado Springs Police Department
       Gold Hill Patrol Division
