What do you do?
Michael Harris
Where do you work and what is your title? I am a mechanic at Peak Auto Service. What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for? I work on all types of cars, everything but body work. I make sure that the cars are fixed correctly and that the customers are satisfied. How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside? Four years total, three here on the Westside at Peak Auto. I grew up in Colorado Springs and we moved to the Westside when I was 12. I learned a lot about auto mechanics from my dad so when I was in high school, the vocational training was more of a refresher course for me. What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)? The people I work with, Scotty has taught me a lot since I started here. We all get along well. I’ve known Gabe since second grade and Scotty since I was 14. If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be? More parking, and tools that aren’t so expensive to replace. What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for? Dealing with customers. 99.9% are great to work with but once in awhile, we get a customer that’s hard to please. What makes working on the Westside special? The people – a lot of our customers are from the Westside. They’re easier to get along with, calmer and more laid back. “What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776. |
