OWN's Westside Neighbors Picnic a success

By Welling Clark, President, Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN)

OWN is assisting the residents off Chestnut, Boulder and St. Vrain streets with regard to the Robbin Place developer who wants to place three duplexes, each three stories high, on small lots. In its fifth year on the tree-shaded lawn in front of the Westside Community Center, the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN) held its 16th annual Westside Neighbors Picnic July 16.
The event was blessed with sunshine and temperatures in the 80s and drew 140-plus Westsiders.
BBQ chef and OWN board member Terry Brunette grilled hundreds of hot dogs, and there were plenty of donations of side dishes by fellow Westsiders.
Attendees were entertained by the trio of vocalist and bass player John Wise, Teddy Nozario on drums and Rob Landreth on lead guitar, with Chris White pitching in on trombone for some songs.
Many Westside and Ivywild businesses helped OWN to sponsor the picnic with contributions and donations. We encourage all Westsiders to shop/dine at the great businesses listed below.
Platinum Sponsors: Council of Neighbors & Organizations (CONO); Front Range BBQ; Jake & Telly's; NARA Sushi Bar & Grill; Colorado City Paint.
Gold Sponsors: Wal-mart on Eighth Street; McDonald's on West Colorado; Bon Ton's Café; Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory; Café of Life; Cucuru Gallery Café; Mason Jar.
Silver Sponsors: Safeway on West Colorado; Edelweiss German Restaurant; English Dockside West; The Junk Posse; Mother Muff's Kitchen & Spirits; Outside the Breadbox.
Bronze Sponsors: Wild Ginger Thai; Rudy's Country Store; Buckley's Homestead Supply; Colorado City Creamery; Piramide Boutique; Dairy Queen on West Colorado; Jug & Basin Supplies.
