Spirit Awards nomination deadline extended
If you meant to nominate a home or business you fixed up in this year's Spirit Awards, there's still a little time.
The original Oct. 23 deadline has been extended to Saturday, Nov. 8, according to organizer Bunny Blaha of the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN).
There is no submittal charge. Before/after photos and a short write-up of the project are necessary.
The fourth annual awards, including prizes donated by 17 area businesses, will be presented at the OWN meeting Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the West Intergenerational Center, 25 N. 20th St.
Prizes are to be awarded in these categories - Historic Preservation, New Construction, Exterior Remodel/Addition, Curb Appeal/ Landscaping and (businesses only) Signage. People can nominate their own properties or someone else's. The project must be in the older Westside area for which OWN is the city-recognized advocacy group.
For more information, call Blaha at 471-8527 or e-mail email@example.com.
