Mayor hosts capital-improvement forums on Westside Nov. 12 & 13

Two locations on the Westside, on back-to-back dates, will lead off a series of six Community Forums hosted by Mayor Steve Bach.
The first will be Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Coronado High School, 1590 W. Fillmore St.; the second will be Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Colorado Springs Shrine Club, 6 S. 33rd St.
The time range for all the forums will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. The topic will be capital improvements. The purpose is “to gather feedback from citizens on the highest-priority, backlogged capital-improvement projects needed in their neighborhoods for streets, public safety and parks,” a press release states.
Also, according to a second press release the Mayor's Office sent out after the Nov. 4 election, stormwater has been added to the capital improvements topic for the forums. The release was sent after county Ballot Question 1B lost. Its proposal to pay for stormwater improvements over 20 years with a fee on properties had been opposed by Bach.
The initial Mayor's Office press release emphasized Bach's belief that“we must take action” on city capital improvement needs. "He has already asked his staff to research such needs. and to brief him by early November, and he will then share those results with City Council as well as citizens at the community forums," that release states.
The other forums (same time range) will be Nov. 18 at Southeast YMCA, Nov. 20 at 21st Century Library, Dec. 2 at City Auditorium and Dec. 4 at Cheyenne Mountain High School.
