'Hunger awareness' goal of Empty Bowls Dinner at Howbert Nov. 14

Howbert Elementary will host its first-ever Empty Bowls Dinner Friday, Nov. 14 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Open to the community at large, with the goal of "raising awareness about hunger insecurity," the event culminates a school effort in which students made ceramic bowls themselves in art class.
For $10, an attendee can purchase one of those bowls and get a serving of soup. The cost is $5 for just soup.
       Howbert is at 1023 N. 31st St.
According to a school press release, all event proceeds will go to Seeds Community Café, a downtown restaurant that is “dedicated to eliminating hunger and social barriers associated with food by feeding all people regardless of their ability to pay,” according to the Seeds website.
