Goodwill retail store could move within 2300 block

Added possibilities for Goodwill Industries' retail store have emerged in the aftermath of the meeting Oct. 26 on Goodwill's plan to relocate from the 2300 block of West Colorado Avenue.
Previously, Goodwill officials have said the retail store at 2304 W. Colorado Ave. will stay, even though the company headquarters, warehouse and other offices in that block will be moving to a new building on Garden of the Gods Road next year.
However, the store was not discussed at the meeting, and a rendering, presented by a Goodwill-contracted architectual/ planning firm, showed the store location as part of the 141,000 square feet of company property that's a candidate to be sold and potentially redeveloped.
Asked this week if that meant plans for the store had changed, Goodwill spokesperson Laura Marth responded that “we definitely plan to keep the store, either in its current location or working it into the new facility.”
She clarified that this means the store will remain somewhere in the 2300 block, but (depending on future redevelopment) not necessarily on its current site.
The meeting was an attempt by Goodwill to get ideas - to be passed on to future property owners who might redevelop the space - from the Westside community about what they would or wouldn't like to see built in the 2300 block. The Goodwill holdings there take in most of both sides of Colorado Avenue and the north side of Cucharras Street, plus about a fourth of the south side of Pikes Peak Avenue.
