'Oink' event at Rock Ledge Ranch Nov. 14 offers insights to early settlers' lives

“Everything but the Oink!” - the annual Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site event illustrating how early farmers got ready for winter, will be Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults, with lower prices for seniors and children. Ranch memberships are also available.
The Rock Ledge entrance (and parking lot) is off Gateway Road at 30th Street.
The city-owned, 230-acre facility is run in the style of the 1880s.
“Everything but the oink” is an old expression reflecting the full use early settlers made of the of the hogs they slaughtered in their efforts to get by.
A demonstration of hog-processing will be presented by the barn. Sausage- and soap-making techniques will be on display at the Rock Ledge House and Gallway Cabin.
