Meeting on 77-acre Red Rock tree-cutting plan
A tree-cutting plan on 77 acres in Red Rock Canyon Open Space will be presented at a public meeting in Manitou Springs Thursday, Nov. 7.
The location will be Venue 515, at 515 Manitou Ave., from 7 to 8 p.m.
Led by Colorado Springs Forestry, the Mile High Youth Corps and the City of Manitou Springs, the meeting will present the plan, intended to “reduce the risk of wildfire and improve the ecological health of the property,” reads a press release from Colorado Springs City Parks. “The grant-funded project includes roughly four acres of [Red Rock Canyon Open Space] near the Section 16 trailhead (along Gold Camp Road) and another 73 acres in the northwest portion of the open space (adjacent to the Crystal Hills neighborhood).”
Discussion points will include the “science of the project, project specifications and timeline of the work,” the press release continues.
