Galleries planning First Friday Art Walk in Old Colorado City Nov. 5
Two art galleries have announced special events timed for the monthly Old Colorado City Art Walk Friday, Nov. 5.
The Squash Blossom, 2531 W. Colorado Ave., will focus on five of its gallery employees who are artists themselves but have not displayed there before. These are jeweler/metalsmith Rebekah Valentine and painters Emily Lincoln, Carrie VanVoltenberg, Sabrena Soong and Megan Fox. “Each one of these women has a strong background in the arts and works in the gallery because of her passion for art,” a press release states.
At the Arati Artists gallery, 2425 W. Colorado Ave., there will be a shared show, titled “Visual Joys the III”, by painter Jan Oyler and jeweler Marlene “Magdalina” Mihelich, who are also Arati 's featured artists for November.
In all, 12 galleries on or near Colorado Avenue between 24th and 27th streets participate in the First Friday Art Walk, displaying original works, chiefly from area artists and inviting the public to drop in.
