Hwy 24 group to discuss creek, 31st St.
The Highway 24 Working Group will meet again Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be in a different location than in the past: the Academy Room of Colorado Springs City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Ave. The area under consideration will be 31st Street to Ridge Road, including discussion of the proposed highway widening's impacts on Fountain Creek, according to Sallie Clark, Westside resident and chair of the El Paso County commissioners.
Consisting of area business, civic and elected officials, the group has been meeting informally since last summer with engineers from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in hopes of working out a less intrusive widening project than CDOT has been proposing between I-25 and Manitou Springs.
The Nov. 1 discussion will follow an Oct. 18 Working Group meeting that focused largely on the Ridge Road/Highway 24 intersection, where a stoplight or interchange is under consideration. One possibility that CDOT is now talking about is installing a pedestrian overpass at any stoplight intersection in the project, Clark said.
The next CDOT meeting for the general public will not be until early 2007, according to CDOT officials.
