What do you do?
Where do you work and what is your title?
I work at Genesis Medspa. We are physician-directed skin care, specializing in anti-aging treatments and products. My title is marketing director.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
I'm responsible for all aspects of marketing, including social media, events, lunch-and-learns (educational forums) as well as building community alliances.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
Iíve been doing marketing for about 20 year. I had my own business for many years. Iíve been with Genesis since it opened in August 2007. Needing more space, we moved to this location in August 2012.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
I love marketing, coming up with fun ideas and planning events. The best part is all the great clients I get to meet!
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
Iím a morning person, so after-hours events are tough for me.
What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for?
The way technology changes so fast. Social media is the now and next generation of advertising and connecting. Things are changing rapidly and itís hard to keep up. I went to college for marketing, I have a degree in business and emphasis in marketing from CSU. When I was in school (this really dates me), there was no Internet, on-line shopping or website marketing. It was more of a newspaper, TV or mail-out approach. Getting the ďword outĒ took time. Now with social media, clients can find out information immediately, for example, by reading a Facebook post. At Genesis, much of our marketing dollars go to keeping our website fresh and optimized. Itís not that we donít do print work, we just find the results from on-line advertising are trackable and easier to quantify.
What makes working on the Westside special?
The great people, the beautiful view we have from our offices and the quick access to downtown.
