Free counseling for seniors on Medicare Part D at regional planning agency through Dec. 7

PPACG's Area Agency on Aging is offering personal counseling to Medicare- qualified individuals through Dec. 7 regarding Medicare Part D (prescription drug plans) for 2016.
The free service is available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a walk-in basis at the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) building at 14 S. Chestnut St.
“Area Agency on Aging counselors will help Medicare clients review and select the best drug plan to minimize cost and maximize coverage,” a press release states. “Counselors do not sell insurance, so they can provide an objective view of the options. All are trained by the state and have many years of experience.”
The federal Medicare subsidy is available to citizens who reach the age of 65 or have suffered a qualifying disability.
Dec. 7 is the national cut-off date to sign up for Part D.
PPACG is the regional planning agency for a three-county area including El Paso County. The Area Agency on Aging is a government-subsidized entity that helps seniors with “information, referrals, direct services, and advocacy,” the release states.
