‘Foster Open House’ at cat rescue center
Happy Cats Haven will host a “Foster Open House” Sunday, Oct. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The nonprofit rescue and adoption center is at 1412 S. 21st St. The event is free, with people invited to drop in, get a tour of the facility and meet others fostering cats. People wanting to take permanent ownership of cats or kittens at the center are also welcome. For more information, call 635-5000 or e-mail adopt@happycatshaven.org. Dog Park 'Ghouls' cleanup Ghouls & Stools, an annual Halloween-time cleanup of the Bear Creek Dog Park, is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are welcome. The 20-acre facility, which is free and open to the public, is off South 21st Street at Rio Grande. The event is co-sponsored by El Paso County Parks and the Friends of Bear Creek Dog Park. Bags and plastic gloves will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a shovel or other pickup device. Fire damages Victorian A night fire Oct. 15 severely damaged the roof of a two-story Victorian at 212 N. 23rd St. There were no injuries, but a resident was displaced. A fire report indicates that the house can be repaired. Fought by 45 firefighters, the blaze was ruled accidental, caused by faulty wiring. Westside Pioneer/press releases |
