Water-line project to affect Chestnut
Beginning this week and continuing through December, work on a Colorado Springs Utilities water-line project - currently being trenched on Fillmore Street near Centennial - will occur on the “old” Chestnut Street, between Fillmore and Ellston streets.
At least one traffic lane each way in the affected part of Chestnut will stay open. No businesses will have to close, nor will access be cut off, a press release states.
The $8 million project is installing a 24-inch-diameter line to carry raw water from the Pikeview Reservoir, near I-25 and Garden of the Gods Road, to the Mesa Water Treatment Plant, near Mesa Road and Fillmore Street. “The effort will enable Springs Utilities to maximize water rights in Monument Creek, and further insulate customers from existing and future droughts,” the release adds.
