CSHP gives up on Fillmore Hill medical campus plan

Colorado Springs Health Partners, which once envisioned a medical campus atop the Fillmore Hill, has abandoned the idea.
“We just decided that at this point it didn't make sense financially with the economy to build a brand new building,” said CSHP spokesperson Lynn Jones.
The consortium of doctors last month finished relocating from the downtown to an existing location at Union and Fillmore, remodeling the space to meet its needs, she said.
The formerly desired site was on 45 acres south of Fillmore Street. Months of heavy grading work flattened the hilltop, and a new segment of Centennial Boulevard was built next to it. But building plans never got past the conceptual stage.
The CSHP land was purchased through an entity named Medical Center LLP. It bought the land, which reportedly included 33.5 developable acres, from Hill Properties for $6 million in 2005.
That property is now for sale, according to Jones.
