Meet a Westsider:
Wendy Booth

Profession/Occupation... I am a professional pet stylist and own Canine Corner here on the Westside, plus I am the certification coordinator for the National Dog Groomers Association Master’s program.

What I like most about the Westside is... First of all, that we are an all- American community, but let’s not forget our weather. We live in a tropical hole up against America’s Mountain. Unless it is an “Albuquerque Low,” our snowstorms usually come up over the peak and the snowfall hits hard east of us. We live in a mecca; just don’t plan on going east, north or south during those storms.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to lower rent for the small businesses in our OCC. They just struggle so to remain afloat half of the year, yet where would our community be without them?

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “It’s Complicated.” It just makes me laugh to tears.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “He’s been your friend for over 27 years, you should be safe lending him money. After all, he is your friend...”

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Posthumously, Dr. King, of course. Alive, I’d love to meet Gerry Spence, the famous criminal lawyer and author.

The next time I travel, I’m going... it will be at the holidays. We plan on packing up our street bikes into our toy hauler and heading south to camp and get some warm weather riding in.

My favorite childhood memory is... My father was a county parks director in southern Ohio. His office WAS his parks and I got to go to work with him a lot in the summer months. I was never bored as there were trees to climb, creeks to play in, bottle caps to collect, plus our dogs were always with me.

My favorite fall pastime is... Riding my motorcycle as much as possible until the weather dictates I can’t.

Something good I’ve read is... “Life” by Keith Richards. Interesting.

My pet peeve is... Phone manners... the lack of good basic phone manners.

If I didn’t have to work for a year, I would... I would pack the bikes and dogs in our toy hauler. Then, hit the AKC show circuit with our dogs and follow the professional MotorX circuit in between the dog show's throughout the USA. WOW! Two of my favorite pastimes!
